Every once in a while, rumors about the close friendship between Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox, who met and bonded on the set of the hit series “Friends,” which just celebrated its 20th anniversary, emerge online. Most of the time, these reports say that the two are no longer on speaking terms.

The same happened just recently, when several insiders told the press that Court was so upset with Jen for bad-mouthing her decision to get plastic surgery that she decided to cut her out of her life for good.

The two were no longer on speaking terms, the spies claimed.

It was a lie: in fact, Cox got engaged at Aniston’s house

Last night, Cox stopped by Jimmy Kimmel, and among other things she also talked about her surprise engagement to Snow Patrol musician Johnny McDaid. From what she’s saying, it happened on her daughter’s birthday, which means mid-June. Again, this means she and Johnny waited a few weeks before she stepped out with her engagement ring.

As the first video embedded below can confirm, Courteney says that Johnny first asked for her daughter Coco’s blessing before the proposal, which was planned out to include both the girl and him.

“We went to Jen’s house. No one knew this was going to happen because it was just a dinner for, essentially, me and Coco. Coco got a little bored, as she does, and right after we were at the bar having a drink, she said, ‘Three!’ Johnny’s like, ‘No, not now!’ So she’s like, ‘All right’,” Courtney tells Kimmel.

Johnny and Coco also planned the proposal to take place under a tree with three branches, a symbol of the new family they will form once the actress and the musician are married. By the way, she doesn’t mention a possible wedding date, but to compensate for that, you will find a second video below, with the actress talking about her Monica hair (vs. The Rachel) on “Friends.”

Cox and Aniston have a long history, often plagued by negative rumors

The two became very good friends on the set of the popular sitcom, and for years after it ended, they were nearly inseparable. The tabloids claim that they grew apart when Jennifer’s marriage to Brad Pitt ended in 2005 and it is said Cox sided with him more than she did with her.

Aniston became close to comedienne Chelsea Handler, which further widened the gap because Courteney can’t stand her and finds her (and her brand of humor) very classless and repulsive.

Just a short while ago, the tabloids again claimed that the two had called it quits on their once-beautiful friendship because of statements Aniston made on plastic surgery and Botox, saying she couldn’t understand how some of her closer friends would do such horrible things to their face and body.

Cox’s name was never mentioned out loud, but the consensus is that Jennifer could only have been speaking of her. Cox too reportedly believed the same, so she severed all ties with her.

Obviously, this new interview claims the contrary: Jennifer is Coco’s godmother and for this reason only, she will always be a part of Courteney’s life.
