Courteney Cox's divorce from husband of more than a decade, David Arquette has ended with both stars praising their former spouse.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the pair's split was finalized in L.A. County Superior Court on Wednesday, May 27. 41-year-old Arquette met Cox, 7 years his senior, on the set of “Scream” in 1996.

They tied the knot in June 1999 and announced their separation in 2010. They were reunited for the fourth flick in the “Scream” franchise in 2011.

They filed for divorce in June 2012 but remained committed to raising their 8-year-old daughter Coco together.

A judge has awarded them joint custody. "Irreconcilable differences" were cited as the cause for the split, Fox News informed.

As reported, the pair pride themselves with preserving their friendship throughout the divorce. The “Cougar Town” star discussed their bond on the Ellen DeGeneres show.

“He's my best friend in the world. I love him. I appreciate David more now than I ever did,” Cox said at the time.

"She's incredible. [...] I love her too, and she's an amazing person, a beautiful person," Arquette also described in an interview with People magazine.

“I mean... it's hard. I don't recommend divorce in general, but, you know, he is my best friend and we've both grown and changed. I think we both appreciate each other more. I hope he does. I do,” she further says.

Daily Mail quotes “Cougar Town” star Busy Philipps mentioning being asked to find the newly single Cox a new fling.

“A couple of people have asked me who I would set Courteney up with.

“I think she is a homebody and if Courteney had her way she would never leave her house, so she does need a partner who will bring her out and just tell her she has no choice and, make her go out into the world," Philipps says.
