14 DAY TRIAL // This past Wednesday, a woman in Michigan, US, delivered a healthy baby boy tipping the scale at about 8 pounds (3.6 kilograms) and measuring 22 inches (56 centimeters) from head to toes.
Under any other circumstances, this event wouldn't exactly be news-worthy. Exciting and thrilling for the family, yes. A headline grabber, not so much.
Still, there is one very good reason this birth is now making the rounds. In a nutshell, the baby boy born just yesterday in the city of Rockford is the woman's 13th son in a row.
“It's a BOY! Now we need to choose a name!” the boy's father wrote in a Facebook post announcing the birth to family and friends. “BLESSED beyond belief!” he added.
The baby boy was due on Saturday but arrived four days earlier. His parents had no idea whether they were going to have another son or a daughter before the delivery day was at long last upon them.
The couple have been trying to have a girl for years
The oldest of Jay and Kateri Schwandt's sons, Tyler, is 22 years old. After his birth, the couple thought that, if they tried again, they might get a baby girl. And tried they did, but to no avail.
As mentioned, the Michigan couple are now the proud parents of 13 boys. Apart from the one born yesterday, the youngest of the bunch is 2 years old.
With this many kids running around, the family's home is not the quietest of places. Still, Jay and Kateri say that they get along just fine with their sons and don't mind the chaos.
“There's a lot of activity, a lot of commotion, a lot of chaos, but there's also a lot of love,” Kateri Schwandt said in an interview, as cited by Detroit Free Press.
For now, there is no news about whether the couple will try to have another kid in the near future. Then again, seeing how wife Kateri admits to finding the experience of being pregnant quite enjoyable, they just might.
