The flagship Fifth Avenue (NYC) Apple retail store was the location one couple chose for getting married, ifoAppleStore reports. A hot-dog stand guy recorded the ceremony on his phone, while the couple had their rings brought in on a first-gen iPod. This and other Apple-themed items were used, suggesting the two were huge Apple fans.

ifoAppleStore, the main source of all things related to Apple’s retail stores, reports that, “A New York city couple used Valentine’s Day as the opportunity [to] be married inside the Fifth Avenue (NYC) Apple store, the first known ceremony at a store.” It notes that, “Joshua Li met bride-to-be Ya Ting Li in a store while she was shopping for an iPod,” citing a report by Entertainment Weekly.

As the story goes, “After a courtship, the couple planned an in-store wedding to commemorate their first encounter. The vows took place one minute into Valentine’s Day, and included a minister dressed similarly to Steve Jobs. The rings were presented tied to a ribbon wrapped around a first-generation iPod,” the report continues to reveal. As noted above, the event was videotaped by a hot-dog stand vendor working nearby.

It is also revealed in the ifoAppleStore report, that, curiously, Apple didn’t seem to mind. “The event took place without Apple’s approval, Li says, but apparently the store staff didn’t interfere.” Photos and videos from the event are available at Trasy yet Classy.

Softpedia note

It is really interesting to learn that Apple didn’t mind having a couple get married in its most famous retail establishment. The event clearly took everyone by surprise, including customers. Since staffers had nothing against it, the activity inside the store must have continued without interruption. For all we know, the ceremony may have actually attracted customers, rather than scare them away from the store. Either way, we congratulate Joshua and Ya Ting for their bold move, and we wish them to be happy! Nothing more, nothing less.
