Troubled country singer Mindy McCready has died. Police have confirmed that she shot herself at her home, presumably overwhelmed by her personal issues, the same that have been putting her in the spotlight in these recent years.

Though off to a very promising start in the industry, in recent years, McCready’s life had spiraled out of control, mostly because of mental problems and alcohol and drug addiction.

People magazine reports that she shot herself yesterday.

“Cleburne County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of gunshots at 3:31 p.m. and discovered McCready's body on the front porch of her Heber Springs house,” the celebrity publication writes.

“Ms. McCready was pronounced dead at the scene from what appears to be a single self-inflicted gunshot wound,” the sheriff’s department says in a statement.

An autopsy will be performed in the following days to establish the exact cause of death.

“At this time family members have been notified of the incident. Ms. Mcready will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the matter will be fully investigated,” the same statement says.

McCready had two minor children, Zander, who is 6, and Zayne, who is just 10 months old.

The singer’s problems took a turn for the worse in January, when her partner David Wilson, who is also Zayne’s father, killed himself.

Afterwards, a judge ordered McCready to rehab and her children were placed in foster care.

However, problems began in 2004, when her addiction spiraled out of control. They also included a custody battle with her mother over her older son, turmoil in her love life, drug arrests and ODs.

Though troubled, the industry has not forgotten that McCready was, before everything else, a very talented musician. Her comeback might not have played out the way she wanted it to, but her fellow musicians are unlikely to forget her.

Mindy McCready was just 37 years old. She will be missed.
