Counter-Strike Nexon: Zombies will launch its open beta on Steam later this month, allowing players all around the world to tactically shoot undead fiends.

The free-to-play shooter is set for release sometime during Q3 2014, as the western version of the popular Counter-Strike Online 2, a massive hit in Korea.

The game will become available in North America, Europe, Oceania and the CIS region upon release, coming with various classic Counter-Strike modes such as Hostage Rescue and Bomb Diffusion.

In addition to this, due to the game's zombie theme, there will also be other modes available for players to enjoy, such as Shelter Mode, Bazooka Mode, Beast Mode, Football Mode and other Zombie scenarios.

Counter-Strike Nexon: Zombies includes both PvE and PvP action, and will boast all sorts of fan-favorite maps, such as de_dust and others, including several brand new ones.

Gamers will be able to choose from a wide array of playable characters, both male and female, terrorist and counter-terrorist.

"Both fans of Counter-Strike and players who are new to the game will have a full-blown shooter experience in a well-restored legendary FPS. New weapons, new modes, and new elements inspiring new styles of play, mixed with everything that made the game such a classic in the first place are some things that we're really looking forward to bringing to Steam," said Kenny Chang, Nexon Europe CEO.

The game is the result of the cooperation between Valve and Nexon, and the open beta will go live starting September 23, on Steam.
