Valve, Intel and the Electronic Sports League (ESL) partnered up for the Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge in New York to organize a competition between the best Counter-Strike players from North America and Europe, and set them one against the other in an hour-long match of the upcoming Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Valve confirmed the new Counter-Strike game earlier this year and, even if we saw quite a few trailers and screenshots, many fans of the series still aren't completely convinced that the new title will combine the best elements from the older and still loved Counter-Strike 1.6, and its newer version, Counter-Strike: Source.

Now, to properly showcase the gameplay, look and feel of Global Offensive, a special competition was organized between the best players from the two aforementioned continents in New York.

Check out the hour-long video above, courtesy of the ESL and Kotaku, and then share your thoughts of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, ahead of its release early next year on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
