Nikon is expected to pull the veil off 3 or 4 new DSLR models this year

The Nikon D800 has been hailed as one of the best DSLR cameras available on the market today. According to adopters of the camera, there are few products available today that can rise up to the competence displayed by the Nikon D800.

Interestingly enough, Nikon might be trying to push its own boundaries, as Nikon Rumors reports the D800 could receive a refresh as soon as this year. The camera already has two variations: the D800 and D800-E (does not have a low pass filter to allow better resolution in images).

That’s a bit puzzling, especially since the previous D700 managed to live on its own for a long time without being refreshed and it was released back in 2012. The purported camera has been dubbed D800s so far.

According to the information, the D800s will retain the same sensor but come with an improved ISO, be slightly faster and boast a higher price-tag. At this moment, Nikon is rumored to announce 3 or 4 new DSLR cameras. Until now we have the confirmation for the D3300 and D4S (already announced), so there are at least two spots left open to interpretation.

These could be filled by the D7200 and D800s. It will be interesting to see what’s coming, since a D800 doesn't really make sense, unless Nikon wants to blend the D610’s imaging sensor and D800’s autofocus to produce a super-fast product aimed at photojournalists.
