Yes, but hopefully not like this

Dell and Google were rumored to make the first Android-based phone and, at the end of January 2008, there were even speculations saying the Android Dell handset had already been built, waiting to be presented to the public. In the end, it turns out Dell is not interested in Google's Android platform, for the moment at least. However, this didn't stop people to keep believing in a Dell-Google handset and, recently, a new concept phone has appeared. But this one, according to the person who conceived it, would be made together with Alienware, Dell's subsidiary company that produces special PCs for gaming and video/audio editing.

Based in Florida, USA, Alienware is famous for its futuristic designs that brought it many devoted fans. Obviously, the concept phone features this kind of design, presented as "eye-catching". Well, since not all people like the Alienware designs, it could prove to be eye-catching in a bad way. Or, even assuming that everyone does like Alienware's way of making things, a design conceived for a desktop PC has little chances to suit a mobile phone. And since that's exactly how the imagined handset looks like (a PC case morphed into a slider phone), we are not really impressed by it. Captain Jean-Luc Picard of Star Trek's Enterprise Starship might have been though.

Other than the controversial design, the phone would also offer Google's Android platform, a high-res display, "fantastic audio capabilities" and "superb video gaming" features. While such a device might be produced in the future (you can never know), this particular concept that we have images of will surely remain just a concept, since it has nothing to do with any of the three companies (Alienware, Dell and Google), except the name association and the Alienware desktop PC-like design.
