No more smashed phones in anger attacks

Up until now, Chinese phone manufacturers haven't seemed to take their job too seriously, but it looks like they have recently changed their minds when they designed the CK800 model. I believe this mostly because the phone seems to be a tough handset, built to resist.

But, phones like these are not a premiere in the cellphone industry. Some time ago, Sonim Tehnologies, from US, has launched a cell-phone called Sonim XP1. The mobile phone featured IP-54 certification, mil-specs approval, Bluetooth connectivity and Push-To-Talk support, which is basically not much; but the Sonim was not an ordinary phone.

Especially designed for hard sports enthusiasts and workers in extreme environments, the phone could coop up with shocks, dust, water, wind, dirt, extreme temperatures and the list could go on.

"If you're standing on a construction site with a welding tool in your hand, or are sitting in a catamaran with a hard wind in your face, you really don't need a fashion accessory nor a multimedia monster, you need a dependable working tool like the new XP1, built for extreme conditions. The Sonim XP1 doesn't die when exposed to the elements, can be dropped, kicked, tossed into a toolbox or backpack, seen and heard in bright/dark and noisy conditions, and provides reliable voice, push-to-talk and data services", said Bob Plaschke, the CEO of Sonim, when the phone was due to be launched.

The Chinese now try to counter-attack the durability segment of mobile phones with the CK800, which can be a really viable option for many reasons. First of all, it can resist a fall, and it will still work if dropped in water or at low temperatures. Another thing that can make the CK800 a real contestant is the fact that it can be charged with a portable AA-battery charger. And probably one of the most important things is the fact that this Chinese "fella" will probably cost less than its "role-model", the Sonim XP1.

Unfortunately, no other details were released about this phone and a release date is still unknown, but I'm sure we will hear again about this handset.
