As fate would have it, CMX has finally begun shipping a series of power supplies that was unveiled quite a few months ago and are compliant with the Energy Star 5.0 standard and 80Plus Bronze for energy efficiency.

The CMX series of power supplies was first revealed as far back as January, but have only now started to show up as available for order.

So far, two of the PSUs have made it to European stores, namely the CMX Series members with 550W and 1000W power outputs, respectively.

The 80Plus Bronze rating and their aforementioned compliance with the Energy Star 5.0 specification was granted by their efficiency of 89%.

Of course, the significant gap in output power is not the only difference that the two siblings have.

For one, the number of 12V rails is different, two for the 550W and no less than 6 for the 1000 W version.

Still, most of the other features are, more or less, identical, such as the HDB (HYDRO-Dynamic Bearing) temperature-controlled fan of 140 mm.

The newcomers also feature OCP, SCP, OVP, UVP and OPP protection, plus 105°C Japanese capacitors, which boost stability and lifespan (up to 4 times longer).

The PSUs support the ATX12V standard, DC-DC (1000W only) and, by virtue of their 8(6+2)pin PCI-E connectors, can handle even the latest video boards.

Other specifications include a modular design, for flexible cable management, which reduces air friction and enhances the airflow inside the PC enclosure.

Those interested in either one of the PSUs will have to part with 95 Euro if they wish to acquire the 550W model, or 196 Euro for the 1000W version.

Finally, for a first-hand view of all specifications on the duo, as well as the other CMX members, end-users need only stop by the official product page that Cougar added to its website.
