Compucase decided this was an opportune moment for its latest chassis to be unveiled, even though the actual release isn't going to happen for a few weeks still.

That is to say, Compucase has prepared a new chassis that will be marketed under the Cougar brand and features the so-called “Super Midi-Tower” form factor.

The Cougar Evolution BO, as it is called, is a variation of the Evolution and measures 223 (W) x 523 (D) x 514 (H) mm.

That is the same as 8.77 x 20.59 x 20.23 inches.

Compucase went for a black/orange color scheme when it put the case together.

Still, the structure is made out of steel, meaning that Evolution BO is quite tough.

Both micro-ATX and ATX motherboards are supported, as well as various storage units, expansion cards and fans.

For those who want specifics, Evolution BO boasts four internal 3.5-inch trays (for HDDs), eight PCI slots and six external 5.25-inch bays, with tool-free mounting for whatever ODD (optical disk drive) or accessory (fan controllers, most likely) users decide to put there.

Speaking of external features, Compucase chose an asset that is uncommon, but which has been seen more and more often lately: a top-placed dock.

With compatibility for both 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch drive, the dock will quickly access SATA drives when needed.

Other specifications include a 120mm Vortex HDB fan (placed at the back), support for up to six extra spinners and a built-in fan controller, plus the obligatory I/O panel.

Set on the top, just in front of the dock, the I/O options are two USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 connectors and, of course, the audio jacks.

Finally, there are pre-drilled watercooling holes at the back, for when the system just can’t take the heat.

When sales begin next month (February, 2012), the price will be of 99 Euro, or $129, give or take.
