The picture will be featured in this coming December's issue of National Geographic

There is little denying that pictures showing lions, cougars, cheetahs, and whatnot hanging about in their natural environment are pretty darn awesome. Still, it seems to me that catching a big cat on camera in a fairly busy urban area is even cooler.

The picture above was taken by wildlife photographer Steve Winter, and will be featured in this coming December's issue of National Geographic.

According to Daily Mail, the picture will be part and parcel of a collection dubbed “Ghost Cats.”

“You talk about urban wildlife and, boom, there's the picture,” photographer Steve Winter explained his wish to catch a cougar strolling in front of the Hollywood Sign on camera.

By the looks of it, it took Steve Winter about 14 months to snap this picture of the elusive feline. As part of this project, he worked closely with biologist Jeff Sikich.
