Cory Monteith, one of the biggest stars on Fox’s hit musical series “Glee,” was found dead in his hotel room in Vancouver over the weekend. A cause of death has not been announced yet, but it is widely believed that he overdosed on drugs.

Monteith was only 31 years old, but had a very long history of drug abuse, having checked into rehab for the first time in his life at 19.

He repeatedly spoke about his addiction and how happy he was to still be alive despite the reckless and unhealthy things he did for a fix.

As we also noted earlier today, in April he had gone to rehab again.

Just last month, Cory seemed happy and in excellent health, as the video below will confirm. Shot by TMZ paparazzi at the airport, it shows Cory and his real-life girlfriend Lea Michele smiling for the camera as they’re making their way to a waiting car.

It was shot right after he came out of rehab.

“Cory Monteith appeared the picture of happiness – giggling and laughing with girlfriend Lea Michele – this just a few weeks before he was found dead in a hotel room... possibly of an overdose,” TMZ writes.

“In this video, shot about a month ago at LAX, Cory and Lea arrive hand-in-hand looking happy and healthy. Even our photog tells the couple, ‘You look like a million bucks’,” adds the same media outlet.

The Daily Mail says sources close to the late star are telling the media that he appeared to stay sober until his final hour.

He’d never looked or felt better, they vouch. On Friday night, he went out with friends and returned to his hotel room alone in the early hours of Saturday.

When hotel staff realized he’d missed his check-out, they went up to the room where they found him dead. He’d been dead for hours, police say.

An autopsy is scheduled to take place today.

In a statement to the media, a spokesperson for Lea says, “We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea's privacy during this devastating time.”
