“Glee” star Cory Monteith has checked into rehab for substance addiction, his rep confirms for the media. This is the second time the actor seeks help for his issues, with co-star and real-life girlfriend Lea Michele saying she’s “proud” of the decision he made.

Fox News has confirmation that Monteith is back in rehab, thanks to a statement from his publicist, which squashes tabloid rumors about his absence – even before they started making the rounds.

The rep doesn’t offer more details about Cory’s condition, except to plead with the media to offer him the time he needs to make a recovery.

“[He] voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction. He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery,” Monteith’s publicist says.

Fox News notes that Cory first got help for an abuse problem when he was only 19. In subsequent interviews, the actor admitted that he got so bad at one point he would take “anything and everything.”

He also said he was “lucky to be alive,” all things considered.

In December last year, Cory’s “Glee” co-star and girlfriend, Lea, gushed about their relationship in an interview with Marie Claire, as we also reported at the time.

She said no one knew her better than he did, adding that she was the luckiest woman on earth to have found such an amazing boyfriend and good friend.

“I don’t even remember a time when he wasn’t my boyfriend. No one knows me better than Cory. No one knows what it’s been like to go through this more than he does,” she said.

“Feeling like you have that net underneath you allows you to jump higher and go farther. He makes me feel like I can do anything. For the first time in my life, I feel really, really settled and happy. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world,” Lea added.
