Both videos published online are only concepts of Windows Phone 8.1

Windows Phone fans will most likely be disappointed by the sudden turn of events regarding the recently leaked videos showing Microsoft’s Cortana voice assistant in action.

Both videos were published by someone using the Twitter name WPLeaker who claimed they were legit. However, not everyone was willing to believe that the videos were really demoing Cortana, including The Verge’s Tom Warren who said, from the beginning, that both were fake.

Today, the person behind the WPLeaker twitter sent a letter to Warren admitting that the videos were just a hoax meant to arouse those with knowledge about Cortana and Windows Phone 8.1 into revealing legit details in order to stop the so-called leaks.

According to the anonymous person, his videos were just concepts for what Cortana might look like. He also claims that his plan was to inform his followers that the videos were just concepts prior to BUILD2014.

He also states that he intended to change the Twitter username to something else based on the fact that they were not actual “leaks,” but concepts. You can find the whole letter at WMPoweruser.
