Jen Taylor, the actor providing the voice of Cortana for Halo 4, says that the game is the most emotional so far in the franchise, with the developers at 343 Industries trying to make sure that the interaction between the two main characters is as authentic as possible.

The voice actor says that this is the first time that she was able to work with Steve Downes, who is the actor portraying Master Chief, in the same sound booth.

Polygon quotes Taylor as saying that, “That’s the first time it’s ever happened. We’ve never been in the room together. So our connection is pretty intense. To have somebody go through any kind of an emotional scene there with you — it makes it more real somehow.”

She adds, “Even the happy-go-lucky scenes and the wry scenes are more fun. Steve and I get along incredibly well. So it made it more emotional, more intense. Everything is more heightened because you are experiencing the journey with someone else.”

Halo 4 will see Cortana evolve in strange ways and she becomes “berserk” by the game climax and Taylor argues that it was a challenge to express her new character at times.

The game will see Master Chief and Cortana travel to a new Forerunner planet where they meet one of the ancient creatures and need to fight its servants, the Prometheans.

The game also deals with the aftermath of the war that pitted the United Nations Space Command against the Covenant.

Halo 4 will also introduce a new Spartans Ops mode which is set to get regular new content after launch and a re-designed competitive multiplayer.

Halo 4 will be launched on November 6 of this year exclusively on the Xbox 360 home console from Microsoft.

It’s probably the last game in the series for this generation of hardware.
