Advanced Micro Devices has finally provided the enthusiast market with Phenom II X6 six-core CPUs and a few ways of showing off the quality of such a product are better than breaking a record. This is exactly what Corsair managed to achieve. The company took the high-end Phenom II X6 1095T Black Edition chip and used it to push the clock speed of a 4GB Dominator GTX4 dual-channel memory kit higher than ever before on an AMD processor.

The system configuration that Corsair put together in order to achieve this feat was based on an ASUS Crosshair IV Formula Motherboard, equipped with the aforementioned processor, a Corsair Nova Series V64 SSD and an NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT GPU. The whole rig was kept running by one of the hardware maker's Professional Series PSUs (850HX). As for cooling, the company employed a Hydro Series H50 model. By means of this platform, Corsair was able to push the frequency of the Dominator GXT4 dual-channel kit all the way up to 2287.6 MHz.

"The new Phenom II X6 CPUs offer a quantum leap in overclockability for the AMD platform," Jim Carlton, VP of Marketing at Corsair, stated. "The combination of the new CPU core and Corsair's most aggressively sorted DIMMs results in some truly amazing memory performance."

According to the testers, the challenge was to drive clocks higher than 2000 MHz, since the Thuban was naturally able to run the modules at 2000 MHz without any major tweaking. In the end, the new world record was achieved "after spending several hours of testing timings, sub timings, voltages, multiple processors and various frequencies."

End-users that want to see how the test was carried out, including the test setup, the methods and results, may visit the specially set-up page on the PC-component manufacturer's official website.

My result is a better one! My XPG G 2.0 beats the 2300Mhz mark! :P
~2,35Ghz was the final result.
And they still have been @ stock cooling. Greets from CH4F from the Hardwareluxx Forum!http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1859767
