Corsair, one of the world's leading vendors of flash memory products, has just announced the expansion of its family of ultra-durable Flash Survivor USB drives with the introduction of the new 64GB model, providing customers with an increased storage capacity in the same, ultra-durable chassis that has made the Survivor family of USB drives successful. According to the flash memory vendor, these drives have been built inside a super-strong, CND-milled, aircraft-grade aluminum casing, which should render them indestructible.

“The new 64GB Flash Survivor takes the industry’s most popular rugged USB drive and takes it to the next level, with a huge amount of storage space, plus best-in-class performance,” said Jim Carlton, VP of Marketing for Corsair. “The 64GB Survivor is ideal for storing and transporting your music, videos, pictures and other important files, safe in the knowledge that your data will be safeguarded inside the Survivor’s protective shell.”

In addition to the ultra-durable chassis, the Corsair flash drives have also been fitted with a molded, shock-dampening collar and an EPDM seal, a design feature that is meant to protect the drive from water, even when submersed at up to 200 meters. The drive is clearly designed for users who work in hard environments, where their hardware is subject to extreme conditions. According to Corsair, the drive has been put through a series of tests in independent reviews, where the drive has been dropped, baked, boiled, encased in ice, zapped in a microwave and even run over by an SUV, after which it was still functional.

The drive can also be used as a highly-secured data backup device, with a little help from Corsair's Flash Voyager Port, while the NovaBACKUP software, bundled with the aforementioned Flash Voyager Port, offers a near disaster-proof backup solution, according to Corsair.
