On July the 4th, in a preview to the 2007 Computex show held in Taiwan, Corsair showcased 4 new DDR3 series which are said to deliver more performance than both their lower clocked DDR3 and DDR2 counterparts. Alongside with these series Corsair also previewed what seems to be the world's fastest DDR3 sticks, the TWIN3X2048-1600C10D DOMINATOR. These babies can effectively run at 2000MHz DDR (1GHz real clock) which translates into an effective rating of PC3-16000.

Impressive, isn't it? Well the only problem is that Corsair's blazing fast chips is their availability since the integrator says they won't come out for another couple of months. Of course all the existing (and upcoming) Corsair memory line is compatible with INTEL's new chipset line (the P35 and X38) as long as the motherboards will have support for at least DDR3-1600.

The 4 existing series showcased by Corsair are part of the Dominator and XMS series and have the following series: TWIN3X2048-1600C10D TWIN3X2048-1333C9DHX TWIN3X2048-1333C9 TWIN3X2048-1066C7. Accordingly, their rated speeds and default timings are the following: 1600MHz 1333MHz 1333MHz 1066MHz / 10-8-8-24; 9-9-9-24; 9-9-9-24; 7-7-7-21. All these models come with Dynamic I/O Signal Termination and On-Die Termination (ODT) and as a result of the EM field reduction, their speed can be further increased without any parasite and reflective signals being generated by the chips.

"Corsair is supporting the industry's transition to DDR3 with a full line of highly-engineered memory solutions. Our partnerships with leading technology companies and suppliers have allowed us to be first-to-market with the world's fastest production DDR3 memory and demonstrating our next generation DOMINATOR running at 2GHz. DDR3 memory technology brings scalability and features that DDR2 cannot deliver. The fact that we are able to realize 50% more memory speed rating at launch compared to the standard DDR3-1066 specification is simply stunning," said Jack Peterson, Vice President of Marketing at Corsair.

All in all, it's a good story. However since Computex 2007 is one of the best places to show your IT muscles, Corsair isn't the only manufacturer who announced a 2000MHz DDR3 stick. The same announcement (and live product) came from Team Group, a new but highly appreciated memory integrator. Its 2000MHz capable products are also being showcased as we speak and will enter mass production as soon as possible. So it's going to be a hot DDR3 summer after all...
