Fremont, California-based Corsair, one of the world's leading vendors of computer memory, power supplies and flash memory products, has recently announced the expansion of its Professional PSU series, with the introduction of a new model, the HX650W. The new 650W addition is joining a complete line of high-performance power supplies, which includes the HX750, HX850W and HX1000W models. The new solution comes to provide an alternative to users who are looking to build themselves a more
mainstream system, featuring components that aren't as power consuming as some of the high-end hardware available today.

“The Corsair HX650W is ideal for enthusiasts and gamers who are looking for a highly efficient, quiet, modular power supply, but don't need the higher wattages offered by the other PSUs in the Professional Series” said Jim Carlton, VP of Marketing at Corsair. “The HX650W offers the same unmatched quality standards and 7 Year warranty, but at a power level more suitable for mid/high-spec PC builds, such as those based on Intel's Core i5 and Core i7 'Lynnfield' processors.”

According to the company, the new power supply unit has been designed to work at 100% operating load, with an ambient temperature of 50 degrees Celsius, and is capable of delivering 96% of its total power output on its single 52A +12V rail. In addition, the PSU also boasts a low-profile modular cable set, which includes 4 X PCI Express connectors, for SLI and CrossFire configurations, providing the end user with a high level of performance.

The new HX650W power supply unit from Corsair has been designed to meet the 80 PLUS BRONZE certification standards, which ensures the end-user a minimum efficiency of 82%, or a typical efficiency of 85%. Unfortunately, there are no details regarding the pricing and availability of Corsair's new HX650W.
