Corsair Releases the 16GB Voyager Flash Drive

Corsair decided that 4 and 8GB parts are not enough anymore. This sentence is equivalent with the fact that every time a 4GB unit comes into the market as a mass storage solution, Corsair produces an 8GB one. Speaking of it, the 8GB flash drives are slowly but steadily becoming a usual thing. So it's a logical conclusion that for Corsair it's that time of the year again. The time to move on.

Actually, there aren't many things I can say about the 16GB unit. Except perhaps the fact that it's pretty cool. And by that I don't mean you should see the stick as a gadget. What's really cool about this one is the fact that you can hold 16GBs of data in the palm of your hand since the stick itself is the size of your middle finger.

Technically, it is the same Flash Voyager USB 2.0 we've all gotten used to and it comes in 512M and 1/2/4/8/16G models, all of them using encryption. And I haven't even gotten to the best part yet which incidentally is the price. With an expected price tag of only S299 you will probably be able to find the stick even at lower prices than the announced one.

It's not the first time Corsair tries to narrow the gap between small hard drives and flash devices. And until now, there still remained a big hole between flash based devices and magnetic storage devices. But it seems that with the coming of the new solid state hard drives which will probably feature capacities up to 128GBs the hole will soon disappear.
