Corsair releases new firmware for no less than four series of solid state drives; version 5.02 is intended for upgrading the system software of all the drives in these series, regardless of their capacity.

Owners of Force 3, Nova 2, Accelerator and Force GT solid state drives are advised to upgrade to the latest firmware which solves two problems that have been reported. First of all is the long time needed for formatting a RAID-1 Volume with PMC Sierra BR-8 HBA; installing new firmware seems to address this rather annoying issue.

The other fix concerns the systems, which can support 6Gb SATA standard drives but whose chipsets have been designed to work with 3Gb SATA units. Pairing 6Gb SSDs with such systems can lead to very poor signal integrity, generating wake from sleep errors, dropped links and all sorts of failures to negotiate 6Gb speeds.

Corsair also stresses that the drives about to receive new firmware must be AHCI-enabled as the upgrade will not work in RAID mode. A full data backup and BIOS update prior to the upgrade are highly recommended , as well.

You can download the Corsair firmware suitable for your Force 3, Force GT, Accelerator or Nova 2 SSD as of now.
