Normally, products are divided into three main categories, according to the range of the consumer base that they service. Specifically, devices are described as entry-level or low end, mainstream or mid-end and, finally, enthusiast-level, high end as it were. Corsair, on the other hand, seems to be under the impression that there should be another level, even beyond the enthusiast. At least, that is what its latest, virtually super-powered memory product appears to suggest.

To put it bluntly, Corsair's Dominator GTX DDR3 memory line has just received a new member, one that has no qualms about shattering even the 2,600 MHz performance barrier. To be more specific, the product is capable of operating at exactly 2,625 MHz on an Intel P55 system, and at 2,600+ in dual-channel mode. The module is codenamed CMGTX6, is guaranteed to permit incredible overclocking feats, especially considering that it is hand-screened, and it even has an XMP profille.

The RAM has latencies of 9-11-10-30 and runs on an operating voltage of 1.65V. Furthermore, since such performance always implies caloric energy, Corsair strapped onto it one of its DHX+ heatsinks.

"What can I say, except these modules are fast. Really fast," stated John Beekley, Vice President of Technical Marketing at Corsair. "While not really designed for day to day use, these modules make superb weapons for your overclocking arsenal."

The CMGTX6 has a capacity of 1GB, is already up for order through its maker's own online store and has a lifetime warranty. The listed price is of $175, though a problem appears to suggest it is just $0 at present. End-users interested in a closer look at this beast may simply follow this link to the official product page. Unfortunately, the module has not been “characterized” on AMD platforms, though the performance shouldn't be too far apart from the one described.
