Earlier this year, at Computex trade show, Corsair announced a new line of high end DDR2 memories, showcasing modules running at PC1000 and featuring revolutionary heatsinks. Corsair Dominator Twin2X2048-8888C4DF High End DDR2 Memories are now available at an incredible 1111 Mhz clock speed and are built to sustain extreme overclocking.

The heatsinks resemble the traditional heatspreaders and they add up to 22 mm to the total height of the memory modules, which reaches a massive 52 mm (compare this to the 31-32 mm height of normal memory modules). This might cause some airflow issues inside many robust computer cases, but Corsair is trying to put together a list of compatible motherboards. This list should also include details about aftermarket CPU coolers that would barely fit on the motherboards once Corsair's "giant" modules are installed. The cooling system is dubbed Dual-path Heat Xchange and it packs a total of four heatsinks for each memory module: one for each side of the PCB and one for each side of the DRAM chips. The actual 52 mm height of the modules is due to the implementation of fins that help maximize the hot air convection in a bidirectional airflow. The modules come with a Dominator Airflow add-on cooler which will be available separately in the near future.

According to bit-tech.net, the full specs are: -Rated Clock Speed: 1111MHz (PC2-8888); -Density: 2GB (2 x 1GB); -Rated Timings & Voltage: 4-4-4-12, 2.4V at 1111MHz (using EPP technology); -Warranty: Lifetime; -Price: ?421.68 inc VAT (Dominator Airflow included).
