SSD technology may be fast and quite convenient, but it's still in its infancy, therefore a lot of issues are reported on a daily basis. Corsair

make no exception from the list despite their solid expertise in this field and the new firmware for the Force series SSD promises better and more reliable use of the drives.

Version 2.4 has been validated for Windows 7 and Vista so far, with seemingly little hope for letting XP join the club. Even though Corsair claims that the firmware update is not destructive, a full backup of your data is highly recommended just to be on the safe side.

The update process is intended for the drive controller in AHCI mode; for those of you not quite sure on how to enable the AHCI mode, Microsoft's AHCI Activation Guide will provide some help.

Intel users are warned that problems can arise with Intel storage drivers series 10; in such a case, reverting to series 9 drivers is advised.

You can download the Corsair Force SSD for SATA II firmware version 2.4 from Softpedia for free as always. Please take your time to read the instructions on the download page.
