This is something one wouldn't really expect from a premium hardware designer

After seeing so many new and high-end products leave Corsair's labs over the years, we aren't exactly likely to expect anything in the way of price cuts and such, not when the company seems to be doing very well, but this is what has happened.

Which is to say, Corsair has officially updated the prices of some of its more impressive desktop personal computer (PC) power supply units.

More specifically, the RM-series has been rendered more affordable to anyone and everyone who would like to own a fully modular PSU.

The RM-Series is positioned, from a marketing standpoint, between the HS- and Axi-Series PSU collections.

That means it is around the middle of the high-end market. Not high enough to qualify as premium PSU, but not low enough to be a mid-range series either.

The power outputs reflect that. Sure, there are 850 W and 1000 W models, but there are 450 W, 550 W, 650 W and 750 W versions as well.

Apparently, all of them have been made around $10 cheaper. Normally, I'd say that means around €7 more affordable, but exchange rates never really reflect reality in Corsair's case, just like many products form other companies cost as many dollars in the US as they do Euro in Europe.

That said, some PSUs have, or rather one of them has, actually gone up in price by the same amount, which puts a damper on our enthusiasm. Alas.

The RM450W is the one priced at US $99.99 / €99.99, versus the previous $89.99 / €89.99.

The RM550W should now sell for $109.00 / €109.99 vs. $99.99 / €99.99, just like the RM850W can be found at $159.99 / €159.99 (not $149.99 / €149.99).

The RM1000W takes an even deeper plunge, from $199.99 / €199.99 to $164.99 / €164.99.

The RM650W stays at $119.99 / €119.99 though, and the RM750W keeps its tag as well, at $129.99 / €129.99. Lastly, the RM850W has gone from $159.99 / €159.99 to $149.99 / €149.99.

All Corsair RM-Series PSUs have fans that don't move at all unless the heat gets past a certain point.
