Corsair, one of the world's leading vendors of computer memory, power supplies and computer accessories, has just announced the expansion of its Performance series of Solid State Drives (SSDs), introducing the new P128 and P64 products. According to the Fremont, California-based company, the new SSDs have been designed to deliver the same performance levels as their larger-capacity counterpart, the P256, previously launched by Corsair for high-performance enthusiasts. Featuring high-levels of performance, the new P128 and P64 from Corsair are to provide a more affordable alternative to current SSDs.

“The high performance of the new Performance Series solid-state drives, combined with the inherent reliability and stability of flash technology, make them ideal for both new system builds and upgrades of desktops and notebooks,” Jim Carlton, vice president of marking for Corsair, said. “These drives have also been extensively validated in a wide range of popular notebook computers, which means that you can upgrade with absolute confidence.”

According to Corsair, the P128 and P64 have been build on the same platform as the previously launched P256, featuring the same Samsung controller IC, 128MB of cache memory and NCQ support. These features enable the new drives to provide users with read and write speeds of 220MB/s and 200MB/s for the P128MB model, while the P64 offers read speeds of 220MB/s and write speeds of up to 120MB/s, offering a lower-density solution.

Designed to deliver an affordable alternative to the company's larger-capacity 256GB solution, the new P128 SSD is already available through Corsair's authorized distributors and resellers worldwide, backed by a limited two-year warranty. As for the smaller-capacity, lower-performance P64 solution, Corsair announced that the drive should be available in early July, although pricing is yet to be announced, for both models.
