Corsair, one of the world's leading vendors of Flash-based memory and storage solutions, has recently updated its line of high-performance Solid State Drives with the introduction of a new Extreme Series line. According to the company, its new family of high-end SSDs will be made available in storage capacities of 32, 64 and 128GB. In addition, according to Corsair, the new line of SSDs has been designed using the new Indilinx Barefoot controller, providing this storage media with performance levels of up to 240MB/s read and 170MB/s write. This sets Corsair's latest offering among some of the highest-performance SSD solutions on the market.

“The combination of the Indilinx Barefoot controller, Samsung flash memory, and 64MB of on-board cache delivers blistering, stutter-free performance, eliminating the bottleneck imposed by traditional mechanical hard disks,” said Jim Carlton, VP of Marketing at Corsair. “The new Extreme Series SSDs are ideal for use as primary drives in desktop and notebooks systems, and also for RAID 0 configurations in high-performance desktops for enthusiasts who want extreme performance.”

The new Corsair Extreme Series SSD line has been built with a mix of Samsung MLC NAND Flash memory and the new Indilinx Barefoot controller, which consequently enables a read speed of up to 240MB/s and a write speed of up to 170MB/s. In addition, the new drives have been featured with end-user upgradable firmware that will enable them to provide support for the upcoming TRIM command in Windows 7. These upgrades will be made available through the company's own website.

Although Corsair hasn't delivered any details on the pricing of its new series, Slashgear reports that these drives are already available for prices of around US$413.99, US$249.99 and US$125.99, for the X128, X64 and X32 models, respectively.
