Corsair, a leading vendor of high-performance memory and flash-based storage solutions, has just announced an update to its family of Flash Voyager GT USB drives, providing customers with a new choice for 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models. Designed as a portable storage solution that can protect digital content even when exposed to improper handling, the Flash-based storage solution is also about high performance, which means
it comes with a rather steep price tag.

“Users of high capacity flash drives need fast transfer speeds, as they are typically moving large amounts of data,” said Jim Carlton, VP of Marketing at Corsair. “The Voyager GT combines a highly efficient controller with high density MLC flash to provide excellent bandwidth at a very attractive price.”

The many features that have been enabled on said Flash Voyager GT include the USB 2.0/11.1 interface, but also the proprietary water- and shock-resistant, all-rubber casing, which was essentially designed to provide the end user with the peace of mind that the digital content on the drive is protected even in the occurrence of physical damage. Designed to withstand a considerable amount of punishment, the Corsair Flash Voyager GT can now provide users with an increased storage capacity, but with the same, appreciated level of protection from potential damaging external factors.

Unfortunately, the company hasn't released any specific details regarding the technical performance of these new drives, but the 128GB model comes with speeds of 32MB/s and 28MB/s for read and write, respectively. The drives will be available through the company's authorized distributors and resellers worldwide, backed by a 10-year limited warranty. As far as pricing goes, the new drives can be found between US$47.6 and US$198, depending on the capacity and the retailer's pricing policy.
