Google may be promoting the Glass as a convenience, but it is the opinion of ABI Research that corporate wellness could be an even better market for wearable electronics.

Already, there are a number of companies, like FitBit, BodyMedia, and FitLinxx, trying to outdo each other by coming up with different products and strategies.

Sure, adoption will depend on making the best partnerships with existing providers in the corporate healthcare management space, but there's time enough for that.

ABI Research predicts that, over the next half a decade, over 13 million wearable devices with embedded wireless connectivity will become part of business wellness plans.

In layman terms, things like wearable displays and wireless headsets will raise the bar on the quality of work.

"While some device vendors are hoping that strong consumer awareness will drive corporate wellness adoption for their products, they also need to understand and focus on the most influential parts of the healthcare value chain," said ABI's Jonathan Collins.
