Today’s smartphones can provide users with increased durability when it comes to scratches, mainly due to the fact that most handset vendors choose to pack their products with Corning’s Gorilla Glass solution.

Following the release of Gorilla Glass and Gorilla Glass 2, the company is moving a step further with the launch of Willow Glass.

The new solution comes with the same resistance as the previous products, but with a much thinner design, at only 0.1mm.

Also offering increased flexibility, Willow Glass is certainly one protective layer that will make it in a wide range of handsets, which will also be thinner than before.

At the moment, Corning reportedly provides partners with Willow Glass samples, but it should not be long before it can start mass-producing it.
