More hardcore games for the Kinect will arrive in 2011, at least according to Microsoft's UK marketing boss, Stephen McGill, who revealed that dedicated Xbox 360 owners will have plenty of reasons to pick up a Kinect in the following months.

Microsoft has just launched the Kinect motion sensitive peripheral for two weeks, and managed to sell a lot of units in that amount of time.

This is particularly interesting, as Kinect doesn't exactly have the most solid lineup of games, with most of them focusing on casual gamers, who just bought the Kinect in order to get into a more serious gaming experience, as opposed to the Nintendo Wii, for example.

Meanwhile, hardcore Xbox 360 owners, who have the console due to full pledged franchises like Gears of War or Halo, haven't exactly been lured in by Microsoft to Kinect.

That will change, however, as McGill says that new games announcements, dedicated to the core gamers, will be shown next year, and will convince serious players to give them a try.

"We'll start showing more [core games] in 2011. 2011 is going to be an amazing year for gamers both on Kinect and normal controller-based games for Xbox 360. I think there's something for everyone."

Until then though, core gamers can easily try mastering the titles now released for the Kinect, as they require a lot of dedication and skill to get right and master.

"I think whilst these games at launch are incredibly accessible to start with, they have a lot of depth. So things like Dance Central and Kinect Sports particularly are great examples. The developers know how to service core gamers as much as casual audiences.

"There's a lot of depth there when you scratch the surface and actually get in to it - the nuances, the level of finessing you have to do when you're on Joy Ride drifting around corners, or going for high scores on Dance Central and trying to get all the Achievements in Kinect Sports.

"You're going to have to be a blooming good gamer to be able to do those things."

According to a report from yesterday, the Gears of War franchise might soon receive Kinect support in some form or another, but that's not exactly set in stone.
