Alan Kertz, the core gameplay designer who has worked on the Battlefield 3 first person shooter from DICE and publisher Electronic Arts, has announced that he has left the development team working on the game and is now part of another team inside DICE which is working on a new project.

Kertz has not offered any details on what he might be working for but fans of the DICE studio are speculating that he is now working on Mirror’s Edge 2 or another title that will use free running over complex space as the core mechanics.

DICE has stated that it plans to deliver more content for Battlefield 3 in the coming months while also continuing to tweak the gameplay mechanics of the first person shooter.

There has been no official announcement about a sequel for Mirror’s Edge, which received a lot of praise when it was released but failed to achieve any sort of commercial success.
