Windows Phone 7, the latest mobile operating system from Microsoft, comes to the market with a few features missing from the initial package, such as copy & paste functionality, but it seems that it should not be too long before Microsoft fixes some of the issues.

We already knew that the Redmond-based software giant was set to make the feature available for Windows Phone 7 devices, but now we already have a time frame for the move, namely early 2011.

According to a recent post on Arpan Shah Microsoft Project and SharePoint Blog on MSDN (via BGR), the company is getting ready to have the solution available in a matter of weeks, and early 2011 seems to be the lucky time frame.

“Critics have commented on the lack of specific features like copy & paste and lack of 100s of thousands of applications. And while both are true, copy & paste will be available as an update in a matter of weeks (early 2011) and as for applications, it’s just a matter of time,” the said blog post reads.

According to the post, building applications for the Windows Phone 7 operating system is as easy as coming up with any new software solutions based .NET/Silverlight.

“In fact, I’m developing a Poker Calculator Windows mobile app right now on my free time that I’m looking to publish in the next few weeks,” Arpan Shah states.

Microsoft did try to offer all the necessary solutions developers would need to come up with applications for its new mobile operating system, including guides, software solutions and the like, and has recently opened the app submissions to the Marketplace for all developers out there.

We should expected to far more apps to be available for download / purchase via the app portal in the near future, expanding the options Windows Phone 7 adopters can enjoy.

While we know now that the first update for Windows Phone 7 is expected to arrive in early 2011, it still remains to be seen what other enhancements it would bring, so keep an eye on this space for more.
