In fact, the cops were the only ones who didn't get high, seeing how they put on masks before starting the bonfire

Cops in Indonesia inadvertently got an entire neighborhood high when they set fire to a humongous pile of marijuana close to a police headquarters in Jakarta's Tangerang district.

The smoke rising from the burning weed spread to nearby homes, and before the cops even realized what was happening, people were complaining about headaches and dizziness.

The good news is that, apart from a few really bad cases of the munchies, nobody experienced any serious health trouble. Apparently, most guys and gals simply felt, well, different.

The weed destroyed in this bonfire was worth $1 million (€0.9 million). On the same day that they set the cannabis on fire, the cops disposed of 4 pounds (1.8 kilograms) of meth and 2,538 ecstasy pills.

Unlike the marijuana, the confiscated crystal meth and the ecstasy pills were not set on fire. Had they been, chances are the resulting toxic fumes would have put some locals in the hospital.

The cops did take some precautions

Funnily enough, word has it the cops were the only ones who did not get high while burning the 3.3 tons of confiscated marijuana, even though they were the ones standing next to the smoldering pile.

This is because, unlike regular folks in neighboring Tangerang district, they made sure to put on masks to keep themselves safe from the thick smoke rising from the bonfire.

“I got a headache because I wasn't wearing a mask,” a Tangerang district resident named Deden told the press in an interview, as cited by NY Daily News.

Mind you, locals weren't the only ones who got high when the cops set the marijuana on fire. The same thing happened to journalists reporting on the destruction of the weed.

One journalist was hit so hard that, to collect himself and be able to get back to his job reporting on crime fighting in this corner of Jakarta, he had to sit down and drink some tea.
