Lately, water cooling has become mainstream even for users that aren't into extreme benching and overclocking, so, during the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show, Cooler Master showcased a new cooler that caters to those users looking for an easy to install and maintain solution.

Known internally under the code name of A-L2, Cooler Master's design is based on a powerful 450L/s pump that sits on top of a CPU water-block.

As you can see from the enclosed pictures, the whole assembly is a lot bigger than what Asetek and CoolIT solutions have accustomed us with, but Cooler Master says their system should deliver better performance.

According to the company, the most innovative thing about the A-L2 is its copper CPU block that uses a radical new patent pending design meant to increase the surface area, making the cooler a lot more effective when faced with extreme amounts of heat.

This feat is achieved by using a stacked copper fin arrangement that adds a significant number of layers to the traditional micro-fin system.

Hardware Canucks reports that the system will be released sometime during the first quarter of this year.

However, Cooler Master won't stop here as the company plans to follow up on the A-L2 (or whatever it may end up being called) with a dual-fan 240mm radiator version of the system later in 2011.

This isn't Cooler Master's first foray into the water-cooling market as the company is one of the pioneers of this type of solutions.

Its first such product was known as Aquagate and launched in the first part of the millennium.

Although praised by many hardware reviewers, Aquagate failed to capture market interest and was overlooked by many potential consumers.

Nowadays, however, all-in-one water cooling solutions have become a lot mare mainstream thanks in part to kits such as the Asetek-built Corsair H50.
