When it comes to a PC, it is the CPU, the graphics cards and the amount of memory that determines how well it can qualify as a gaming or enthusiast configuration. What lets bystanders figure out the worth of a PC, however, is the enclosure itself, and many end-users are willing to pay a bonus if it means their computers will look as good as they run. Knowing this, Cooler Master had more than enough reason to be especially diligent when creating the
HAF X enclosure.
The HAF (High Air Flow) X is an enthusiast-grade chassis measuring 230 (W) x 550 (H) x 590 (D) mm and wrought out of steel. It comes with six exposed 5.25-inch bays, as well as five 3.5-inch bays and a top I/O panel with two USB 3.0 ports, eSATA, USB 2.0, FireWire and audio outputs. Additionally, the case boasts a tool-free design, a 'refined' cable management system and a side window, which lets any human feast their eyes upon the all-black interior.
Since cooling effectiveness is a central part of the HAF line, Cooler Master placed a 230mm red LED fan at the front, as well as a side 200mm spinner, a rear 140mm fan and a VGA Fan duct with an optional 120mm propeller. There is also a top 200mm fan, plus an extra one as an option. Of course, for those overclockers whose feats require even more serious cooling power, the HAF X comes with pre-drilled water-cooling holes, three to be exact.
The entire construction weighs no less than 14.35kg, which means that it won't see many LAN parties, especially after the motherboard (m-ATX, ATX or E-ATX), storage devices and graphics card are placed inside it. As for pricing, the product will sell for roughly $199, which is the equivalent of 179 Euro. Shipments should begin sometime during the next couple of weeks.
