Cooler Master has just announced the introduction of a new series of power supply units designed for silent running, which feature a single 12V rail design and come certified by 80PLUS to deliver up to Silver-level power efficiency.
The new Silent Pro M2 PSU series includes six models with a power output ranging from 420 to 1000 Watts which are capable of delivering between 34 and 86 Amps of current on the 12V rail.
Depending on the Wattage of the PSUs
, the Silent Pro M2 models can be certified for running CrossFireX or SLI setups, and the top of the line 1kW PSU even comes with six PCI Express 6+2 pin power connectors.
The main advantage that the Silent Pro M2 PSU series holds over its competitors, however, is their silent running design, as they were tweaked in order to provide noise-free operation no matter the load placed on the system.
In order to achieve this goal, Cooler Master
used 135mm fans with hydraulic dynamic bearing when designing the PSUs, which were paired together with a series of other advances that have the same role.
In addition, the Silent Pro M2 power supply units are also compliant with a wide selection of safety standards and feature 80PLUS Bronze or Silver certification.
This list also includes the ErP (Energy Related product) directive, which ensures that less than 1W of power is used by the PSU in passive standby and off modes.
Estimated prices (including VAT) start at 79,90€ ($109 US) for the 420W version with 80PLUS Bronze certification, and go all the way up to 169,90€ ($223 US) for the 1000 Watt PSU which complies with the 80PLUS
According to Cooler Master, the Silent Pro M2 power supply units should reach retail in March this year. All of them feature a modular cable design.
