Cooler Master has just revealed the results of such a project: the Silent Pro Gold 450W and 550W power supply units.
They both have an efficiency of up to 90%, 80 Plus Gold rating as it were, hence the name.
They also deliver up to 35A power over a single powerful 12V rail, and use high-quality Japanese capacitors, as well as 120mm fans with long-lasting Two Ball Bearing.
Furthermore, they are “hybrid modular” PSUs, which means that some power cables can be removed, reducing cable clutter.
