GPU cooling is a critical issue with today's high-end computer users, especially since there are a number of new, high-end graphics cards that can deliver impressive performance when clocked beyond stock levels. On that note, CoolIT systems, a designer of cooling solutions for today's high-end hardware components, has just announced the debut of its new OMNI Universal Liquid Cooling product, designed to cool today's high-end GPUs, including AMD's latest ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics cards. According to the company, the new product has been designed to provide a solution for today's GPUs,
but also for upcoming models, thanks to a flexible design.

“Since starting our work with AMD several years ago, one of the challenges has been the fast succession of technology advances. By working hard to develop a solution that can keep up to the pace of technology advancement as well as providing the end user the flexibility to upgrade their cards while keeping the cooling system intact, we feel that this is a winning combination. The solution showcases an ultra reliable, brazed heat exchanger to ensure that it will provide excellent performance for years to come,” said Geoff Lyon, CEO of CoolIT Systems.

The new cooler offers a choice for lower acoustics and can maintain the GPU temperatures to lower levels, thus enabling overclockers and PC enthusiasts to tweak out their cards, in order to take advantage of the full performance potential that these can deliver. The OMNI universal liquid cooling solution has been designed as a factory sealed, maintenance-free system that is scheduled to be demonstrated on AMD's new Evergreen GPU architecture at the AMD TFE event in Taiwan, kicking off today.

“I think the implementation of the universal design has addressed the need for performance cooling in the GPU space with the added benefit of upgradeability.” said Dr. Gamal Refai-Ahmed, AMD Fellow and lead thermal architect, AMD Graphics Product Group. “Using the liquid system has a tremendous cooling advantage over traditional air cooling allowing our enthusiast community to push the limits of our latest architecture.”
