The Cooking Mama series is apparently set to get a new video game for the Nintendo 3DS handheld during the winter of this year, with a set of new mechanics designed specifically for the handheld platform.

A report from Siliconera says that the game will be first shown to the public by the development team at Office Create on July 28 at the Shogakukan's Ciao Summer Festival.

The winter launch date is only for the Japanese market and a Western release will probably be handled by the Majesco team and might appear in 2014.

The initial report is not offering any information on the kind of experience that Cooking Mama 5 might offer.

The 3DS was also host for the franchise in 2012 when Cooking Mama: Kitchen Magic was launched.

The casual game has managed to get a huge fan base since it was first revealed in 2006.
