Proving that wishes do come true on Christmas, the Cookie Monster from “Sesame Street” got to host the latest episode of Saturday Night Live after campaigning for the gig. Not only that, but he also got a duet with Jeff Bridges.

The muppet and the actor, now seen in theaters in Disney’s “TRON: Legacy,” joined forces to bring a little of the Christmas spirit into our homes – which is precisely what they did.

Not only did their duet go wonderfully, but the video with it went viral almost instantly, reports in the blogosphere say. #Cookie Monster also became trending topic on Twitter after the show.

“Jeff Bridges has performed a duet with the Cookie Monster on Saturday Night Live,” Contact Music report. You can see the duet in the video embedded at the end of the article, but be advised that it’s of poor quality.

“The ‘Tron: Legacy’ actor joined forces with the fictional ‘Sesame Street’ character to perform a rendition of festive track ‘Silver Bells’ on a Christmas special of the US chat show,” the e-zine further writes.

“Jeff – who was hosting the episode – also appeared in several comedy skits as part of the festive show, including one in which he plays cheeky pranks on fellow celebrities Maggie Gyllenhaal and Billy Bob Thornton,” Contact Music writes.

And Cookie Monster, Bridges, Gyllenhaal and Thornton weren’t the only celebrities on the festive episode either. More contributed to one of the best episodes in recent time.

SNL regulars Andy Samberg and Jorma Taccone brought Akon abroad for a digital skit / song that also boasted the collaboration of actresses and overall stunners Jessica Alba and Blake Lively.

As for the musical performances, fresh out of prison Lil Wayne made a spectacular return to television with a live rendition of “6 Foot 7 Foot” and a duet with Eminem on “No Love,” as we also informed you just hours ago.
