14 DAY TRIAL // Will and Jada Pinkett Smith’s parenting came under fire before, but never with as much passion as it has now, when a photo of their 13-year-old daughter Willow, she of the “I whip my hair back and forth” fame, in bed with a 20-year-old man has emerged online.
The man is Moises Arias and he’s best known for playing Rico on the now-defunct “Hannah Montana” show. TMZ says that the photo was posted to his Instagram account but has been deleted since.
It showed him shirtless, leaning against a wall while, closer to the camera and in the center of the bed, was Willow, fully clothed and over the covers, lying on her side, with one arm under her head. Both are looking at a point beyond the camera, so perhaps the friend who snapped the picture didn’t even tell them what he or she was planning to do.
Describing the pic as a “strange scene,” TMZ says, “Moises eventually deleted his IG post – but other people have reposted it and called the image perverted.” The same media outlet informs that the friend who snapped it also took and posted photos of Willow’s brother Jaden, and the Jenner sisters, with whom Jaden is famously close.
The Daily Mail confirms that the photo was online at some point, and also notes that various fans of Willow reposted it, wondering in writing on social media whether her parents were aware of the company she kept.
In all fairness, there is nothing wrong per se with the photo, so it could be that all those who see something wrong or even remotely “off” with it are overthinking it. Admittedly, some of us (those of us who are older than 30, for instance) didn’t spend our days when we were 13 hanging out with shirtless young men but, then again, there is nothing “regular” about Willow and Jaden’s teenage years.
A look at their older interviews and even their Twitter feeds reveals that they’re homeschooled and even then they hardly get any work done because they’re too busy working or are on tour. They believe schools are just a fancier version of prisons, in that they stifle all creativity and that we should rebel against the system.
They travel all over the world and are encouraged to express themselves whichever way they feel at the moment, and are always surrounded by famous and equally rich friends.
From the things Jada has been saying throughout the years, it could be that the Smiths are Scientologists so, naturally, their kids are too.
So, comparing our teenage years to Willow’s would be pointless. That still leaves the question of how inappropriate the photo is (it’s available at the TMZ link, by the way). What are your thoughts on that? Let us know in the comments section below.
