"Controversial" Britney Pictures Drop Hours Before Her Album

- Welcome to the world of "do whatever it takes to attract attention" Britney

By: Monica Gaza, Entertainment News Editor

What do you know! Britney's album drops today and, just as a huuuge coincidence, some so-called controversial photos featuring the pop wreck have made their way into the media. And guess what – they feature Britney striking a sexy pose while apparently "confessing" her sins (in a confessional box, of course), and then sitting in a priest's lap while wearing a very short sexy skirt and fishnet stockings. I must say I'm rather disappointed with Britney's people – usually, they were a little more refined when pulling stunts like this to boost public interest in their client.

Plus,
those photos look photoshopped to hell and back – it's been a while since Britney's legs have looked so sexy in their own, un-digitally altered state. And just as I said before, what a big surprise that these photos – which apparently come from a pictorial that's included in Brit's "Blackout" album – were leaked just hours before the official launch.

Let me "guess" how things will go. Some people will see these photos, and immediately start asking themselves "I wonder what else is there in Brit's album?" Just as a personal observation, I tend to think that we've pretty much managed to see everything Brit's got, be it legal, illegal or simply disgusting. However, throwing in some "controversial" photos on an album that's already sparked enough controversy simply by re-introducing Britney Spears to the world after 4 years of daily drama and frappuccinos is a pretty lame thing to do – for two reasons at least.

First of all, controversy and sexiness go hand in hand – and there has been no trace of anything remotely sexy about the Britster in a long time. You fall for the "sexy photos" scheme when you really, really want to see a celebrity (a legitimate celebrity, not the paparazzi-adoring, hysterical, lip-synching Brit Brit) showing off a side you've never seen before. Which is not the case here. And secondly, there has been enough controversy in Britney's life so far to allow her to write a ten-volume series about it, and believe me, pretending to fondle a priest is among the least silly things she has done so far.

So you see, there's really not much to be surprised about, but if you needed an extra reason to have a laugh, here it is – and by all means, we should all play-pretend to be outraged and condemn Brit's shamelessness. But I doubt these photos will spark any kind of "serious" interest, and people will see them as another Britney joke – which, in fact, they are.
