
Via a 4colorrebellion report we find out more about the Japanese console scene as Famitsu confirms the release of four upcoming console RPG titles over the next period.
While it was known Harvest Moon will hit Wii, it appears a DS version is also in the making. Entitled "Harvest Moon: The Island I Grew Up On", the sequel promises to be more than just a standard continuation of the series. Be it male or female, your character of choice lives on an island alongside its mother,
father, brother and sister. Since one of the important features of the game is that you can grow rice, one must plant and tend to their crops in order to survive in this remote location. It is said control will be completely driven by the stylus with the d-pad corresponding to four on-screen item icons. There are also hints of connectivity with the Wii version.
Riviera was a great Gameboy Advance hit when originally released, and now the RPG is being remade by Sting Studios for the PSP. The game is being reworked with full voice-acting, over 50 new character illustrations and fantastic new events. Although the developers made no announcement about localization yet, the Japan release is scheduled for later this year.
More attention focused on DS as a new SPRG called Lunamis Ark was announced. Not much is known about the game being developed by Image Epoch and published by marvelous. Special "deathblows" can be unleashed when the "Drive Gauge" is filled up confirming the action based line that the Japanese love so much. Stylus control can be set to either dominant hand. All characters have professional voice acting. Characters are designed by Shibano Kaito while Lunamis Ark's music is complemented by Mitsuda.
The upcoming Gameboy Advance remake of Final Fantasy V will be released on October 12th. The opening of the game is being completely redone. Two new character classes have also been confirmed: the Gladiator and the Demolition Expert.
