The most recent title update for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 versions of Mass Effect 3 has been reported to cause crashes when the game is loading, essentially making the game unplayable for a number of gamers.

Two main problems are being reported: not being able to get past the contacting EA servers connection sequence and simply seeing a crash before the main screen is loaded.

BioWare says that it is aware of the issues and has responded to the Twitter and official forum complaints by saying that it is working on the reported issues and will soon have a fix.

Some users are saying that they have managed to get past the Mass Effect 3 patch update issues by trying to load the game a number of times, clearing the cache of their system and disconnecting from the Xbox Live service and then starting the game.

Chris Priestly, who is the community coordinator working at BioWare, stated, “A new patch gets heavily tested by BioWare, EA, Microsoft and Sony before it can be released to the public. We all want to be sure that it fixes the issues it is supposed to fix and doesn't start any new issues.”

The small title update for the console versions of Mass Effect 3 was launched alongside the new Resurgence downloadable content pack, which is free and allows all players to get access to two new maps, a number of weapons and new character to use in multiplayer.

It’s not clear how problems can sneak by when both Sony and Microsoft insist on testing all updates launched on their home consoles for some time before releasing them.

Those who are playing Mass Effect 3 on the PC have not reported any sort of problem with the Resurgence pack or with the associated patch.

A new weekend multiplayer event for the BioWare game is ready to go this week and the team will try to fix all problems before it starts.
