Focus Home Interactive, as the publisher, and Cyanide, as the developer, has announced that it will be launching a new console bound cycling simulation experience, called Tour de France: The Official Game, which will arrive on both the PlayStation 3 from Sony and on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft on July 1, just before the real world start of the most important event in the world of cycling.

The new console bound experience will allow the player to take control of his favorite cyclists in order to rise all the 21 stages of the real world Tour de France, focusing on the most important elements of the race.

The management aspect that Cyanide focused on in the PC bound Pro Cycling Manager series is not the main concern for the console experience and the players will be able to get down to bike level and see the action on the road up close and personal.

The game will skip the uninteresting parts of the long stages, making sure that players constantly have choices to make and are able to contest the most important events, from mountain top finishes to sprints.

The game will include a reputation mechanics which will determine how willing other teams will be to collaborate with yours in order for the player-controlled rider to get the victories he needs.

Patrick Pligersdorffer, who is the chief executive officer of Cyanide, has stated, “It's been a long time that we (at Cyanide) have been thinking of a cycling game especially designed for home consoles.”

He added, “We could not adapt to consoles what perfectly works on PC with Pro Cycling Manager, so we worked on different prototypes before achieving a satisfying result last year. Tour de France is the first important step in our quest for the ideal cycling simulation for home consoles.”
