Miss California might even go into politics, report says

Undoubtedly, the biggest sensation at this year’s Miss USA beauty pageant was not the winner of the title, but Miss California Carrie Prejean, who was favored to win it but lost because of her stance on traditional marriage. All is not lost for Prejean, a new E! Online reports says, since she still stands a good chance of joining the media circuit, either as a spokesperson for pro-family groups or as a politician by joining a party with conservative orientations.

All that is left now for Prejean is to decide which way she wants to go. Her representative has confirmed for E! that, ever since the airing of the Miss USA competition but especially after doing a couple of interviews to explain her answer on the pageant, the offers have not stopped coming in. Most are from pro-family, pro-marriage groups that base their entire activity on beliefs like Prejean’s, and that want to use her comment on the pageant against same-gender marriages.

“She’s gotten several requests to speak from statewide pro-marriage-and-family groups.” Carrie’s spokesperson confirms for the e-zine. However, the beauty queen is not OK with her beliefs and comments being used in such a manner, preferring instead to be seen as a role model for the freedom of speech and the need to not compromise, even when something as impressive as the crown of Miss USA is added in the balance. “She wants to speak more for standing up for what you believe in, rather than any specific issue. She just wants young people to be strong in their beliefs and not let culture sway them.” the same rep says.

Whatever she decides, the bottom line is that all doors are open for Prejean now. The Focus on the Family group, for instance, is eager to sit down with her and discuss a possible future collaboration, albeit in the same line of thought as the one mentioned above. In this sense, a spokesman for James Dobson has confirmed that talks are currently underway to organize a meeting between Dobson, the leader of the group, and Prejean.

If doing the media circuit supporting one group or another is not a viable solution for the beauty queen, then there’s always the option of going into politics – and definitely linger in the spotlight for much longer than the rest of women who take part in this type of competitions, the same e-zine points out. “I will guarantee you that the Republican party is going to embrace her. I haven’t talked to anyone in the party about it yet, but I guarantee you, they will.” former Arizona attorney general Grant Woods says for E! Online.
