Conquer Shuffled Dungeons in a New RPG

With a hero named Sword

Casual games publisher Majesco is announcing that it plans to bring Away Shuffle Dungeon to Europe and North America right after the game is released on the Japanese market. The role playing game is being created by Mistwalker and AQ Interactive, with Hironobu Sakaguchi, of the Final Fantasy fame, taking the helm as project director.

Jesse Sutton, the Chief Executive Officer of Majesco,

stated: "We are very excited to be working with the collective creative talent of Hironobu Sakaguchi, Naoto Oshima and Nobuo Uematsu. Their experience creating high quality, best-selling games means that Away will be well-positioned for success when it hits retail this fall."

The game is a typical Japanese RPG experience, abounding in many characters with big eyes and little noses and chins. The story is centered around a young hero named, in true JRPG fashion, Sword (anyone remember Cloud?) who must, of course, avenge the destruction of his village and rescue the various villagers that were kidnapped by a mysterious evil force. It's very likely that by the end of the game it will be revealed that the main enemy is either the half brother or the uncle of the main character, again in keeping with the Japanese RPG tradition.

The main new concept that the game proposes is mentioned in the title. All the dungeons in the game will be "shuffled" at certain times, with the configuration of the rooms changing in a random manner. This will make it harder for players to guide their characters to their goals and will also apparently hurt both the hero Sword and the villagers that he wants to save.

The game is a Nintendo DS exclusive at this point, although a Nintendo Wii port is a possibility if the game does well. Expect Away Shuffle Dungeon to arrive sometime during autumn.
